Welcome, guest. My name is Justin Risher and I am currently pursuing IDP hours with a small design firm in Jacksonville, Florida. I earned my Professional Master of Architecture degree at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia in June of 2012. I started my career with an Associates Degree in Architectural Studies from Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana. I have also attended Southern Illinois University for my Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and graduated in May of 2009.
While at Vincennes University, I received the Architectural Academics Award, was on the Dean’s List for three semesters, and was the Architectural Club President for one year. At Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, I was a member of the American Institute of Architect Students and a member of the Student Environmental Committee. I take advantage of special architectural workshops, including Architectural Desktop training, Revit Architecture knowledge workshop, many Quad conferences in Minneapolis and Kansas City, and many seminars on Precast Concrete and other sustainable ideas.
In the summer of 2007, I worked for an architectural firm in Mount Carmel, Illinois known as Architecture Design Group. At this firm, I worked on red marked drawings, shop drawings, blueprints, and worked on several small projects that included schools, retail, and residential.
Attending conferences and visiting other cities along with being a Resident Assistant, has opened my eyes to new technologies and bright ideas that I can adapt and develop in my career. I would like to pursue an internship in Architecture with aspirations to become a professional in the field with a specialization in sustainable design and how it affects our lives separately and as a community.
I approach every step I take with a great desire and passion as I strive to achieve my professional goals and dreams. With every class that I have finished, I have attained the skills and knowledge to transform my goals and dreams into reality.
