Concept

Multi- Cultural Tea House with an Emphasis on Nature

Centered in Savannah, Georgia, Forsyth Park is a very popular tourist location as well as a very popular spot for local activities from many different cultures. Also, being an international school, Savannah College of Art and Design brings many students with different cultures to Savannah, GA. Forsyth Park is a popular location for many cultures, therefore, there is a need for a venue for social gatherings for public entertainment to benefit this location.

The geometry of the proposed building represents the center of the space is the most important, just as a heart is of a human body.  This concept of a multicultural facility heavily relies on the common space, making it the center of the building.  Around the center are four pods that will house the private spaces, in which the private tea ceremonies will take place.  The round lawn steps help buffer the park away from the private tea house.  These steps act as a barrier between the building and the general park.  The existing trees also act as a security buffer for the location of this site.  The square design represents a 10’ x10’ grid, which help give the design its structural shape and sense of strength.
